In order to get the dimensions of your cover, use our cover calculator.

This cover calculator provides the dimensions needed for softcover books, dust jackets and printed wrap and linen hardcovers.

Bleed is included in the dimensions shown.

• Softcover books and Dust Jackets have 0.25" (1/4") bleed on all four sides.

• Printed Wraps have 0.80" bleed. This part will wrap around to the backside of the cover boards.

• Remember, you should keep all important text and graphics at least 0.5" (1/2") inside the bleed area.

Important notes:

• The graphics shown below are not to scale, and serve as a visual reference only.

• The dotted line indicates the four-side bleed area, which will be trimmed. 

• You must click "Calculate" whenever you alter the input values in order to display correct data.

• Dust jackets always have 4" wide flaps front and back.

Guide to paper types:

• If your book features primarily photographs or artwork/illustrations, we suggest Matte Coated or Super Smooth Uncoated paper.

• For books that include a mix of text and images, such as family histories, Bright White Uncoated Text is an excellent choice.

• Natural Tone Uncoated Text is best for books that are predominately text-based, such as novels or poetry collections.

• If you are interested in paper with noticeable texture, select Bright White Uncoated Vellum.
